DIARIO MANIFESTO, 2018-ongoing, video HD 27’ 21”

Diario Manifesto is a single channel video inspired by a memoir written by the artist’s mother few months before her death. Mixing web foot- age, archival materials, recordings of her performances and iPhone clips together with mini-dv tapes shoot between 2001 and 2008, Silva reconstructs her mother’s life and struggle for freedom during the 60’s and 70’s in parallel to the attempts to both survive her passing and to face the legacy of her beliefs.

Diario Manifesto è un video mono-canale ispirato ad un memoir scritto da mia madre nei mesi che hanno preceduto la sua morte. Mescolando web footage, materiali di archivio, registrazioni di performance e clip Iphone con vecchie cassettine mini-dv, ricostruisco la vita di mia madre e la sua lotta per la libertà negli anni ’60 e ’70 in parallelo ai miei tentativi di sopravvivere alla sua scomparsa e confrontarmi con l’eredità delle sue convinzioni.
