Diaries among diaries, 2019, Fondazione Spinola Banna, Poirino, TO
Diary of a space is a cycle of canvases started in London in 2018. The work aims at questioning the painting subject and the linguistic self as the first sites in which power relations are produced and deployed through objectification, separation and control. The paintings attempt at letting the space speak, making the notion of subject and object interchangeable within the painting process. The self decreases its will-power. The space is enabled to express itself. The hands and the body transcribe its story, its daily life. Attention is the method. Signs accumulate without clashing, at times they stratify on top of each other. I try to keep gestures as single actions, avoiding repetitions and automatisms.
