ENG

15 Kg is an ongoing series of un-stretched foldable paintings that have been shipped in suitcases and exhibited between London, Italy and Cape Town.
The series’ title refers to the maximum weight to be carried on low-cost airlines such as Ryanair. The paintings are visual enquiries about the connections between freedom, gesture and mental structures, outcome of an ongoing re- search on late-capitalist rituals and obsessions about food, body, spirituality, accumulation, consumption and waste. Painted on both sides, the canvases retain the marks of a process of stretching, un-stretching, folding and burning as well as the traces of their displacement.

ITA
